Step Beyond Your Island

Edition 6 of Insight : Reflections on Mantra, Life and the Inner Journey by Jagannatha Das

Later this month, I’ll be travelling to Krishna Island in Northern Ireland to do kirtans at their 60th Anniversary Festival.

A place surrounded by water and woodlands. Set apart from everything else.

And every time I’ve been, it’s left something with me.

Because in many ways, we are all living on our own islands.

Not physically… but internally.

We each move within our own world of routines, thoughts, responsibilities and familiar patterns.

Day by day, we stay within what we know… rarely stepping beyond it.

And after a while, it begins to feel like that’s all there is.

But something within us always knows…

There is more.

More than the patterns we’ve settled into.

More than the noise we’ve learned to live with.

More than the version of life we’ve quietly accepted. email-184538569314927671-179028…

In spiritual life, growth often begins the moment we step beyond that inner island.

And that’s what I’ve experienced at Krishna Island each time.

A shift in perspective.

A deeper sense of connection.

A reminder of what actually matters.

People from around the world gathered on this small island in Northern Ireland for two days of kirtan, prayer and deep spiritual association.

I was fortunate to be there leading kirtans alongside wonderful kirtan leaders from around the globe.

But perhaps the invitation behind that experience applies wherever we are.

If you’ve ever felt like there is something more waiting for you…

Perhaps it’s time to step onto a different shore.

Because sometimes transformation doesn’t begin by trying harder.

It begins by stepping into a space that reminds you of who you really are.

Come and Experience It

If this reflection resonates with you, perhaps the next step is to experience kirtan for yourself.

Every Friday, we come together at OMNOM Birmingham for kirtan, mantra, music and community. I also share kirtan at retreats, festivals and other gatherings throughout the year.

Whether you’re completely new to kirtan or it’s already part of your life, you’re warmly welcome.
